Can't run Meris.Case-2, already contains a band with the name 'la
toggle
Hi:
I downloaded some Meris files from coastcolour.org but when I tried to run the Case-2 Regional Processor the following message is shown: "The Product 'Meris.RegionalWater$13C82077EF6' already contains a band with the name 'lat'." The version that I am using are
Beam: 4.10.3 (build 4.7.1_b130 from 20120621)
Case-2: 1.5.7

I made a search and the following link to bugTrack (Key: CIIR-42) showed up: http://www.brockmann-consult.de/beam-jira/browse/CIIR-42?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Aall-tabpanel

It says that the bug was resolved but I don't if I am missing something.

Thanks for your help;
Gabriel

Hello Gabriel,

This problem was fixed in a former version but unfortunately reintroduced later. I've fixed it and ensured (hopefully) that it will not happen again.
Please use the module manager to get the updated version (1.5.8).

To process the L1P data you need a lot of memory. Depending on the size of the scene you might need to set the heap size to Xmx4000M.
You can do this in the visat.vmoptions in the bin directory.

best wishes

Thanks Marco,
Now what I am seeing is that with Visat I can process the image, but when try to process with gpt I cannot (I changed the Xmx to 4000 on vmoptions and gpt.sh). The only message that is showing when processing with gpt is:

Error: Could not load mediaLib accelerator wrapper classes. Continuing in pure Java mode.
Occurs in: com.sun.media.jai.mlib.MediaLibAccessor
com.sun.media.jai.mlib.MediaLibLoadException

I am using the default parameters for Case2.

Thanks again;
Gabriel

The message about the accelerator is not a really an error. Actually only a warning. It will not be shown in further releases.
Be patient, unfortunately displaying of progress does not work with gpt. Until the processing breaks with an error code and returns to the command prompt the processing is running.
What you can do to further improve the speed of the processing is to use the option '-c 2G'. This sets the cache for the image data from 512MB (default) to 2 GB.

As invalid expression you should not use the default value.
Better would be to use l1p_flags.CC_LAND.

This is the line that I am running:
gpt.shcase2r.xml -c 2G -Ssource=MER_FSG_CCL1P_20050309_141817_000001042035_00225_15810_0001.nc -t C2_MER_FSG_CCL1P_20050309_141817_000001042035_00225_15810_0001.dim

It finishes (it returns to the command line with no error message) and when I check the target I find only this
C2_MER_FSG_CCL1P_20050309_141817_000001042035_00225_15810_0001.data/

----lat_corr (hdr and img)
----latitude (hdr and img)
----lon_corr (hdr and img)

C2_MER_FSG_CCL1P_20050309_141817_000001042035_00225_15810_0001.dim

But when I check with the one generated manually it has other hdr and img files inside C2_MER_FSG_CCL1P_20050309_141817_000001042035_00225_15810_0001.data/

A short update. If you don't use the gpt with an xml file but with the operator name it seems to work.

1gpt Meris.Case2Regional -c 2G -Ssource=MER_FSG_CCL1P_20070605_104917_000000922058_00409_27517_0001.nc -t MER_FSG_CCL1P_20070605_104917_000000922058_00409_27517_0001_c2r.dim

It also works if you start from a normal N1 file. So the problem is weird.

Hello Gabriel,

just want to update you about the current status. I hope that I can take care of this bug (BEAM-1464) this week. If so we will release an update for BEAM.

Hello Marco!
I'm using the C2R version 2.9.6 on BEAM 5.0 but I have the same problem of Gabriels.
I tried using the command line as you suggested but the problem still remains.

Thanks for your help!

Dear Ilaria,

there is no C2R version 2.9.6 on BEAM 5.0, the latest version available from the repository (if you check with the Module manager) is 1.6.2.

Therefore, could you please check again the version you used, and paste here the full gpt command you tried to execute? Then, we can try to reproduce your problem.

Thanks and best regards,
Olaf

I'm sorry! I wrote the ICOL version I'm using instead of the C2R one.
I'm using C2R 1.6.2 version in BEAM VISAT . After reading Marco’s post I tried using the command line by typing: ‘gpt Meris.Case2Regional -c 2G -Ssource=MER_FSG_CCL1P_20100628_093157_000000822090_00394_43534_0001.nc -t MER_FSG_CCL1P_20100628_093157_000000822090_00394_43534_0001_c2r.dim’ as he suggested but the error still remains.
Thank you again for your help!

Hello Ilaria,

have you updated the other BEAM modules to their latest version? E.g. beam-gpf to 5.0.1 and beam-core to 5.0.2.

I just tried the full work flow. I processed a product with the CoastColour On-Demand Service and used it with the Case-2 Regional v1.6.2.
I had no problems.
What makes me wonder is that I couldn't find exactly the same product as you have used. I used MER_FSG_CCL1P_20100628_092730_000002592090_00394_43534_4073.nc.
Is your data L1P data product a bit older? Can you provide it to me in order to clarify this?
I'll send you a separate mail with a FTP location where you can upload the data.

thanks
Marco
