I was really happy to see that BEAM 4.7 was available now for Mac OS X, along with Chris-box tools. I've been putting my CHRIS/Proba files on a Vista PC to process in BEAM and then transferring the processed data to my Mac to do further analysis and to refine results (all my field data is on my Mac, along with other analysis s/w). This could really save me a lot of time.

The new version installed and launched fine. However, when I tried to read a CHRIS hdf file, I get a VISA warning that "No appropriate read found:." I see that CHRIS/Proba Product Reader module was installed, so I assume that this is because there are still no HDF libraries supported on Mac OS X.

So, what's current the work around for this? Do I still need to read the files on my PC, create DIMAP formatted files there, and then put the DIMAP files on my Mac to read into BEAM?

I can read HDF files with HDFView and ENVI on my Mac. Can I alternatively use these s/w tools somehow to get data into BEAM instead of transferring a lot of files between machines?

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate that information. I was going to upgrade my VIsta PC to 4.7, but I will hold off until the new version of CHRIS-Box is available. Do you see a solution for reading CHRIS data on Mac coming with the next release of CHRIS-box?
