esri shapfile reader
2/4/10 3:48 PM
Hello,

Firstly I think you for your open source; it is really very useful and allows me to integrate my plug-in easily. In my work I try to extract semi-automatically some vectors form optic and radar images. I have a question about your last version Beam-4.7, it can’t read my esri shapfile!!, I must use geoTools or convert my files in scv format?

Thanks

Saïd

Probably you shapefile is missing a complementary ".prj" file. Which describes the coordinate reference system (CRS). If this file is missing we currently assume that the coordinates of the shapefile are in geographic Lat/Lon (WGS84). If the shapefile coordinates are not in this CRS, the import fails.

You can can create such an ".prj" file your self with an GIS application, or if the CRS is defined by an EPSG code you can get such a file from the following web site: http://spatialreference.org/. Give this file the same name as your shapefile.

best wishes
Marco

Thank you Macro for your answer it was very useful for me, but I noticed that with your new version of February 22 the shape files are more easy to read (no re-projection is required).
