VISAT's File Menu

New

The new-command allows you to create a new product. The command is enabled only if you have already opened or imported a product from which the new product can derive it's geo-coding information. The primary use of this command is to create a spectral or spatial subsets of another, open product.

Open (Control-O)

Opens one or multiple data products stored on the hard disk in VISAT. You can select more than one product, e.g. by pressing the CTRL and select the desired products with the mouse.

Reopen

VISAT stores the location of files previously opened or saved in this menu group. Select an entry and VISAT will re-open the product.

Product Grabber

Opens the Product Grabber for data product previewing, opening or importing reasons.

Close (Control-W)

Closes the currently selected product. This commands is also available in the context menu when you right-click over the open product list.

Close All

Closes all products currently open in VISAT. This commands is also available in the context menu when you right-click over the open product list.

Save (Control S)

Saves the currently selected product in the BEAM-DIMAP format. If the product still does not have a file location, then you are asked to specify a storage location for the product. Note that save process can be a time consuming process for huge products.

Save As

Saves the currently selected product to a different location. You are asked to specify a new storage location for the selected product.

Import ->

Transect Data...

Imports transect data from a text file, converts it to a geometric shape figure and displays it in the current image view. The command is disabled if no image view is active.

ENVISAT Product (or Subset)...

Imports an ENVISAT MERIS L1B/L2, AATSR TOA-L1B,NR-L2 or ASAR product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

NetCDF Product (or Subset)...

Imports any image-like netCDF product.

GETASSE30 DEM Tile (or Subset)...

This command allows to import a GETASSE30 tile as product.

MODIS Product (or Subset)...

Imports a MODIS Level 1b or Level 2 product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

ATSR Product (or Subset)...

Imports an ERS-1/2 ATSR product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

BEAM-DIMAP Product (or Subset)...

This command allows to import a product in BEAM-DIMAP format into the VISAT. The primary use of this command is to create a spectral or spatial subsets of BEAM-DIMAP formatted products. Since BEAM-DIMAP is the standard format of VISAT, entire products in this format can also be directly opened with the open-command.

NOAA-AVHRR/3 Product (or Subset)...

Imports a NOAA AVHRR/3 HRPT or AVHRR/3 LAC Level-1b product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

ERS1/2 Product (or Subset)...

Imports SAR IMG/IMP and ATSR TOA data products of ERS-1 and ERS-2 stored in the ENVISAT format. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

LANDSAT TM Product (or Subset)...

Imports LANDSAT TM data products stored in the FAST format. It is also possible to import zipped products. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

MERIS Binned Level-3 Product (or Subset)...

Imports a MERIS Binned Level-3 product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

AVNIR-2 Product (or Subset)...

Import an ALOS/AVNIR-2 product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

Prism Product (or Subset)...

Imports an ALOS/PRISM product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

CHRIS Product (or Subset)...

Imports a CHRIS HDF-4 product. You can also specify a spectral or spatial subset for large products.

Export ->

ROI Overlay

Exports the current ROI overlay from the active image view as an image file.

Export ROI Pixels

This command exports pixel values of a ROI to clipboard or file.

Color Palette...

This command exports the color palette table to a file.

Displayed Image

Exports the displayed image of the active image view to an image format. The formats supported are BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and GeoTIFF. The command is disabled if no image view is active. This option is also available as a context menu if right-clicked into the image view.

Export KML...

Exports the displayed image of the active image view as KML file. This is only possible for Lat/Lon projected products. The command is disabled if no image view is active. This option is also available as a context menu if right-clicked into the image view.

Displayed Metadata

Exports the contents of displayed metadata to a text file. This option is also available as a context menu if right-clicked into the metadata display window.

Color Legend

Exports an image of the color legend used in the Contrast/Palette Window. This option is also available as a context menu if right-clicked into the image view.

HDF5 Product (Subset)

This command allows to export an open product to the HDF5 format. The appearing file chooser dialog gives you the option to specify spectral or spatial subsets of the current product.

BEAM-DIMAP Product (Subset)

This command allows to export an open product to the BEAM-DIMAP format . The primary use of this command is to store a spectral or spatial subsets of the selected product to disk. Since BEAM-DIMAP is the standard format of VISAT, entire products in this format can also be directly stored with the save-command.
